How You Can Help End Child Hunger | #ChildHunger

Child Hunger Ends Here

Nearly 17 Million Children Face Hunger in the U.S.

Did you know that nearly 17 million children face hunger in America? That is more than 1 in 5 children suffering. Child hunger is not an issue of poverty like most people think, and these are kids in our schools and in our neighborhoods. Child hunger is an epidemic in this country and it often goes unnoticed because often, you don't see it - it's invisible.

Child Hunger is an issue that really hits home for me. When I was going through my divorce ten years ago, I went through a period of about six months where I had very little money for food. I needed all of my [very little] income to provide for the roof over the heads of me and my three kids. I would gather up change laying around and then purchase boxes of generic macaroni and cheese for $0.33 each because that was most filling and one box would feed my three small children. It was awful and I depended on their hot lunches at school for a major meal. We did not have the look of a family living in poverty. I owned a nice home, had a nice SUV, my kids were always dressed well... but we had very little food. This time in our lives was very temporary, thankfully. This is why I feel very passionate about this campaign. I want to help. I want you to help.

Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign

ConAgra Foods created the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign to help end the issue of child hunger. They have joined forces with Feeding America to engage families across the U.S. and encourage them to get involved. The ConAgra Foods Foundation and Feeding America have donated more than 275 million pounds of food and invested more than $36 million to combat child hunger since 1993.

How You Can Help
Child Hunger Ends Here

Shop!

Go shopping and purchase ConAgra Foods products that feature the red thumb tack like you see in the images posted here in this post. Once you get home, enter the code in the box on the ConAgra Foods site. Each code entered will buy a meal for a child at your local Feeding America food bank. Be sure to enter your zipcode too.

That's it! By purchasing specially marked packages of ConAgra Foods, you're helping feed a hungry child.

I have explained this campaign to my kids and now when we shop, all three of my older kids help look for the red thumb tack and they also bring me the codes to enter. I love that they are so involved in this campaign with me.
