Last week I told you about the Blick Art Twitter Party. Were you able to attend? I was having a chaotic day. I showed up on time and was able to stick around for the first few questions and discussion but then I got side tracked with these little kids around here and had to step away from the computer. Once I got back on, the twitter party was ending. I enjoyed hearing about everyone's favorite art supplies and projects. I wish I could've stuck around for the whole party.
So why was there a Blick Art Twitter Party?
Glad you asked!
Blick Art knows how important art is in your child's education. With many schools struggling to keep their art program, Blick Art wants to help! Blick Art created the Art Room Aid, which is a program that helps teachers across the country enlist the aid of parents, families, friends and other art advocates to fund their art projects and keep creative learning on going.
Art Room Aid provides teachers the tools they need to share their art supply needs along with funding needs without the complicated applications involved or fees that take away from contributions. To do this, teachers can go onto the Blick Art website and create a "wish list". If you'd rather contribute to a teacher, then you can easily and quickly locate that teachers project wish list and donate directly to that project. This is very similar to making a wedding registry or baby shower registry. A list is created and then others can access that list and purchase what is needed.
I was able to get together with one of Gracie's teachers and together we created a PROJECT LIST on Blick Art's Art Romm Aid website. Ms. Nyah has a total of 30 Pre-K students so she is always in need of more art supplies! We set up our account and Ms. Nyah was able to chose all the supplies she needed and put them on her Project List.
Here are some of the things Ms. Nyah put on our Project List:

The best part of our Art Room Aid Project List that we created?
The Motherhood is contributing $100 to our LIST!
Our Art Room Aid Project List will be open until Feb. 28th and we are asking for contributions. You can click on this link: http://www.dickblick.com/ara/lists/2857/home to go straight to our list. You can give a few dollars or you can purchase an item. If you contribute a dollar amount, then Ms. Nyah will go into our account and decide which item she wants to purchase with that money.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!
If you take a look at our list, you will see that some items are as low as $1.13 - isn't that awesome!
For as little as a dollar, you can donate to this project!
THANK YOU!

This is such a great idea. I love that you can get families involved in their children's education and creative development. Smart!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome. I often bring in items to my son's preschool for art projects and the kids get so excited. I love this idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing program. I am definitely going to share this with my daughter's pre-k teacher.
