The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research.
At St. Baldrick’s events all throughout the year, brave volunteers shave their heads, raising funds for research. Like runners in
a marathon, “shavees” collect donations from family, friends and associates. The Foundation receives these funds and makes grants to research experts to find new and better treatments for fighting kids’ cancer.

I don't mind boys with long hair as long as they take care of it. I don't think either of my boys would want their hair as long as your son's was. In fact, my 9yo has been having his hair buzzed the last 2 yrs after seeing my brother like that. I kind of miss him with somewhat longer hair. My 13 yo wants skateboarder type hair, but he's required to take care of it. Needless to say, it remains semi-short. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on boys with long hair but I agree that you have to pick your battles. If they take care of it and keep it looking clean and trim then it's okay with me. My son begged for a mohawk and I didn't want to do it at first, but I told him once it was summer I'd do it, so I did and it ended up being the best fit for him right now. We're going 5 months strong with it and everyone loves it on him.
ReplyDeleteNow that said, he has curly hair, so I hope that he NEVER wants to let it grow long, being that it will be a small fro on him. But I'm sure it will look great on him!
I agree with Mimi - as long as they are taking care of it, it doesn't bother me. I think it's important to foster self-expression whenever possible (within reason, of course). Long vs. short hair won't be a battle in our home.
ReplyDeletehmm, i'm more of a nay for my kids while i am mkaing the decisions :)
ReplyDeleteYour little man is so handsome! I think it's best to let kids choose to express themselves the way they want, as long as they maintain it appropriately. My son is only 2 and my husband and I already have had fights over whether to cut his hair or not!!
ReplyDeleteMy 18 month old has very, very curly hair that reaches about an inch past his shoulders. When my daughter was born, I swore I would never cut her hair until she was old enough to *ask* me to do so and pick a style, and I've vowed to do the same with him - partially because it's so curly I'm afraid it would turn into a big pouffy ball if I did!
ReplyDeleteI think it's okay for the most part. It's their body and as they grow up, they deserve more autonomy. However, it must be kept clean and healthy.
